ICM to play throughout school year

Park University’s International Center for Music has released its schedule of events for the 2014-2015 season. The concerts will be held at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel with the exception of one to be held at the Folly Theater in Kansas City. The season promises a rich selection of performances and several notable guest performers have been invited. All shows in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel are free to Park University students.

Saturday, September 27 – 7.30 p.m.

Shmuel Ashkenasi will perform the first concert of the season. His performances will include Franz Schubert’s “Rondo for Solo Violin and String Quartet” and “String Trio in B-flat Major” in collaboration with Park’s award winning students.

Friday, November 14 – 7.30 p.m.

The music of Leonid Desyatnikov featuring Alexey Goribol, piano, will be features in this concert. His music has been performed at La Scala, New York City Ballet, Bolshoi Theater and is championed by violinist Gidon Kremer. Russian pianist Alexey Goribol will be joined by ICM faculty and guests in a special evening devoted to the music of this extraordinary composer.

Saturday, December 6 – 7.30 p.m.

Faculty violinist Ben Sayevich and faculty cellist Daniel Veis will join their students in a performance of Franz Schubert’s “String Quintet in C-Major.” Collaborative pianist, Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich, will join the concert for Johannes Brahms’ “Piano Quartet No. 3.”

Saturday, February 28 – 7.30 p.m.

The Park Piano Trio will perform. Violinist Ben Sayevich, cellist Daniel Veis and pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch will perform Beethoven’s monumental “Archduke Trio” and Anton Arensky’s lyrical “Piano Trio in D-minor.”

Saturday, April 25 -7:30 p.m.

The Young Artist Showcase will be held. This free concert will highligh the talents of the musicians enrolled in the International Center for Music.

Friday, May 15 – 8 p.m.

A Special Concert: Behzod Abduraimov, pianist, will be held. Park’s Artist in Residence will perform at the Folly Theater. He will perform Chopin’s “Ballades No. 1-4,” Schubert’s “Impromptu” Op. 142 and the “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” by Liszt/Horowitz. Information about tickets will be provided later according to the ICM website.
