Royals breathe new life into Kansas City

The Kansas City Royals are in the World Series for the first time since 1985. They’ve done it.

The Royals made history by being the only team ever to win eight straight playoff games.

Nearly 30 years of losing seasons, there still were loyal fans supporting them. Now, the fans are being rewarded.

The city is now the focal point of the world for the next week or so.

They haven’t won yet that’s for sure but a shot at winning a championship is within arm’s reach.

It would have been great to see the I-70 showdown against the St. Louis Cardinals but the Cards couldn’t get past the San Francisco Giants.

Despite this, the Royals are ready and the city is ready. It’s been a different type of scenery here in Kansas City since the Royals advanced to the championship series.

Everyone’s in a great spirit. Whatever worries people had before last week are diminished.

Winning brings a sense of hope to the community. Takes your mind outside of work for a moment and just causes you to cheer.

I think that if any other team had been unsuccessful for so long, the owners would have tried to get the team out of the city to play somewhere else.

The Royals management stayed loyal to each other and to their fans in times of struggle. They did not relocate.

It’s so easy to give up and move. Of course certain players aren’t there anymore but the ones that are there now have gained a chemistry that cannot be broken.

I know this column mainly points out the Royals winning but if you look closely I’m painting a picture of loyalty.

Every single person that’s a Royals fan now wasn’t a fan when they were losing but honestly there are many who were.

The organization was, and is, loyal to their city by keeping the Royals here.

The fans were and are loyal to the organization by buying tickets and supporting.

Something as simple as a Royals hat and wearing it is loyalty. Something special is happening right now in Kansas City and every other city in the world is watching.
