Symposium to showcase student creative talents

For the 10th year, Park University will celebrate students’ work and projects on a larger stage than a classroom.

The Park University Creative Art Symposium will be held from April 6-9. The intent of the symposium is to highlight students’ projects. The event is open to both undergraduates and graduates students. This year, online students will also be eligible by utilizing Skype.

Shannon Cut, assistant professor of Literacy and Education, encourages students to participate.

“People at Park are doing interesting things,” Cut said. “(You should) share what students are doing in your classes to a bigger audience.”

The project can be presented under several formats. Some students do a poster, others an oral presentation.

According to Cut, employers are looking for this kind of projects in resume when hiring post-graduates.

To participate in the Symposium, students can apply online.

Applicants will need to include a 100-word summary of their projects and have a faculty mentor.

Faculty mentors are often the instructors who taught the class the project was created in but it is not mandatory.

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 20. To register and learn more about the Park Symposium visit www.park.edu/symposium.
