On March 24, Park University’s PSAB held the Spring Movie Drive-in. Students were able to park and sit at the 12th street entrance parking lot next to the softball field and track and enjoy a movie and food.

Students rolled in to find two food trucks, a Betty Rae’s ice cream truck and a Vee’s BBQ truck, where students could eat for free, as well as a table full of free PSAB merchandise.

The movie started at 8 p.m., playing on a huge blow up screen with a projector rolling the movie. Students could either sit socially-distanced in the parking lot or in their cars to enjoy their food and the movie, “Girls Trip” starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith.

J’nae Varela, a senior double majoring in social work and psychology, says she really enjoyed the drive-in.

“It was lots of fun; the food trucks were super cool, and I loved the ice cream. I think that PSAB should do more events like this because it is a good COVID-friendly event that makes everything seem a little more normal,” said Varela.

Varela also said that the drive-in was a great opportunity to give her a break from school work and daily life.

PSAB will be putting on more events throughout the semester giving students more fun events to look forward to.

PSAB Vice President of Internal Events Bayan Salam, a junior majoring in criminal justice and psychology, said she is super excited to do more in person activities.

“I want to be able to bring some big events back to campus. I want to create more activities like our movie drive-in that let students enjoy their time on campus more,” said Salam.
