Park Hill graduate Carter Jensen, who was invited to Spring training last year by the Kansas City Royals, has now made it onto the team’s 40-man roster as a catcher as of Sept. 1, 2025.
He made his official debut with the Kansas City Royals towards the end of the game against the Los Angeles Angels on Sept. 2, 2025. Unfortunately, the Kansas City Royals were unable to bring home a win that night.
For the game against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, Jensen was able to prove himself. In the fourth and sixth innings, he earned his first and second RBIs in the MLB. In the fourth inning, Jensen hit a double that allowed runner Jac Caglianone to score. In the sixth inning, Jensen hit a groundout that resulted in an out for him, but led to a run being scored, which put the Kansas City Royals further ahead in the game. The Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins, 11-2.
After that career high for Jensen, he was celebrated by his idol Salvador Perez. Perez was the first person at the top of the dugout to congratulate and pat him on the head for his first MLB RBI. Jensen described the experience as “really cool” and “a lot of fun” to be celebrated by his idol.
Jensen, who grew up in the Kansas City area, has been a long-time Royals fan and was even in the stands for Game 6 of the 2014 World Series. Now, he commutes every day to Kaufmann Stadium as a player — not a fan. To commemorate the first RBI Jensen got as an MLB player, he saved the ball from the fourth inning. He has said to make plans to get a case for the ball and give it to his parents, saying, “We’ll put it with the others.”
Jensen said this full-circle moment has allowed him to become more comfortable playing in front of a crowd.
