Park University held its annual Arrr & Arrr event from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 in the Breckon Sports Center to celebrate women athletes in honor of women’s history month. This year, there was food, a raffle, and basketball games to watch alongside the event.
Student athlete Izabella Ceratti explained that they were excited for the raffles and prizes this year. They also went on to say they wished the local business came out this year like previous years. Beach volleyball player Jullia Alvarez has come to the event the last 3 years said, “There are not many people this year and I think it is because they have the basketball games going on at the same time as the event.” She explained that she comes to this event for the connections she makes through the local businesses and other students who attend, as well as to win raffle prizes.
Park University Athletic Director Kristin Gillette said this year’s Arr & Arr event may have struggled slightly with attendance due to conflicts. “It was the first time we held it on a Saturday and in conjunction with a game. In hindsight, Saturday is a busy day for community members and the Park community, so in moving forward I think we’ll avoid Saturday,” she said. “We’ll look for a Wednesday next February to celebrate again. It seems like the hump day happy hour is a time that has the least amount of conflicts.”
Though this year did not have the turnout that was expected, many were still able to enjoy watching the basketball games, the possibility of winning a raffle prize and the food provided.
